James A. Watson is a staff consultant who provides litigation support in the preparation of claim and claim defenses.  He also assists counsel with the firm’s efforts to upgrade contract and project management controls for client contractors.    

Mr. Watson has expertise in project management, cost controls, and project accounting.  His recent work for the firm includes claims preparation and project controls support for a small business subcontractor pursuing a $7M plus claim against a Department of Energy (DOE) contractor and litigation support for a $57M insurance recovery claim brought by a engineering and construction company.

Mr. Watson has extensive industry experience in telecommunications, having held a variety of senior staff positions with P&L product development responsibility.

Previously, Mr. Watson was a Network Consultant and Manager of Technical Sales for Convergent Network, Inc., a start-up telecommunications venture developing ATM switching platforms for cable network systems.  Before joining the start-up company, Mr. Watson was a Director of Product Management for SBC, formerly Ameritech – a multibillion dollar Bell Operating Company doing business in the Midwest.

During his tenure with SBC, Mr. Watson had P&L responsibility for product lines with revenues in excess of $300M. He had direct responsibility for project management, cost controls, product development, and strategic planning for a variety of products and services including ISDN direct, ISDN PRI, Frame Relay, LAN services (Giga bit Ethernet, FDDI, etc.), custom calling services and voice activated dialing systems.  Mr. Watson managed a strategic planning budget of $2M as the Ameritech representative on the Bellcore Broadband project team.

Mr. Watson is the author of several strategic planning papers that were vital is setting direction for architecture planning.  Topics have included discussions on long-range network architecture, strategic initiatives on mobile networking, wireless technologies, and technology/topology evolution topics (CCS/SS7, AIN, SONET, HDSL &ADSL, and Optical Access Networks).
